  • Abstract
The Council of Ministers of the European Union has just approved the new energy program for the period 1995-98. The budget allocated to R&D on photovoltaics within that program is estimated at 40 to 50 millions ECU. The European Commission is entrusted with the implementation of that program. The program is oriented along two lines: one is the technological development of photovoltaic cells, including upscaling of manufacturing processes and systems. A new sector is added, called integration. It concerns the promotion of photovoltaics in the building sector, municipalities and regions. Particular emphasis will be given to the Power for the World concept
