Abstract
The paper presents the achievement of an exceptional long term frequency stability with a cryogenic-sapphire resonator oscillator (CSRO). The cryogenic resonator is based on an open cavity structure initially designed to suppress spurious modes and improve the resonance line shape and hence coupling.
