Abstract :
Summary form only given. The aim of this project was to build a portable system designed to monitor on a daily basis the severity of pulmonary edema in chronic heart failure (CHF) patients. As for today, the current methods for monitoring pulmonary edema severity in these patients are inaccurate (weighing), or involve ionizing radiation (CT imaging). The proposed system is based on the principles of bio-impedance - a non invasive technique which retrieves information regarding the electrical characteristics of internal tissues by applying small amplitude currents into the body, and measuring the developed electrical potentials.
