Abstract
Each positioning technology has its own weaknesses. Unlike open environments, where high location accuracy can be achieved, indoors settings pose a special challenge for location technologies. In this research several location technologies and positioning algorithms have been classified. Included are location estimation systems using WiFi Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) values and positioning systems over wireless networks. Some performance metrics have been identified for location estimation and positioning systems. These metrics have been used for comparing location technologies and applications.
