Abstract
The design philosophy and architecture are presented for the advanced mission planning system (AMPS) approach to multi-aircraft mission planning. The easily modified open architecture and sophisticated software are intended to allow tactics to be developed and implemented with minimum delay to the user or modification of the system. Terrain and intelligence databases will be used to improve the quality of the resulting plan and permit the planning process to be rapidly completed by the minimum number of personnel. AMPS is intended to provide a capability for growth that will match the mission computers and navigation systems of the next generation of combat aircraft
