Abstract
The transmission control protocol (TCP) is by far the dominant transport protocol in the Internet. Nonetheless many studies have shown that TCP has many performance problems with the fast growing Internet. As a result, new transport protocols have been proposed to solve the problems. In this paper the author present a simple and short proof that feedback control protocols such as the newly proposed explicit control protocol (XCP) can converge to a unique equilibrium (fixed) point. Many studies have shown that XCP itself has performance problems. In this paper the author also propose a fast congestion control protocol (FCP) for networks (the Internet) which (based on preliminary analysis) is better than XCP and all other existing Internet protocols. FCP is a fair, efficient transport (congestion control) protocol. FCP can also enhance network security.
