Abstract
In this the paper the design of n-codecs is discussed in general terms. Specifically, the design of a chaotic n-codec is considered equivalent to the design of a nonlinear digital filter along with its inverse filter. To this end a generalized inverse for a large class of nonlinear systems is suggested which may have broader applicability than shown here. Secondly, the generic form of the inverse will allow a class of FIR n-codecs to be articulated. Finally, a way of estimating the error performance, specifically due to errors in transmission of n-codecs is given
