Abstract :
This paper reports an optical observation of surface driven orientational transitions of liquid crystals (LCs) in a confined micro-structure. The gold micron-structure was fabricated on a glass substrate. Deionized (DI) water and cetyltrimethyl-ammonium bromide (CTAB) aqueous solution were used to trigger the orientational transitions that were easily observed optically.
