  • Abstract
The thermal transient effect of a Y-cut langanite (LGN) resonator and a Y-cut langatate (LGT) resonator is measured with various rates of linear temperature-time ramp. The resonators are vacuum-sealed in two-point-mounted or four-point-mounted enclosures. The nominal frequency of the resonators is 10 MHz 5th overtone (OT) and the modes from the fundamental to the 7th OT are measured. The results show an improvement over AT-cut quartz resonators. The dynamic thermal sensitivity coefficient of the 5th OT two-point-mounted LGT resonator is only 15% of that of 5 MHz 5th OT AT-cut quartz resonators.
