Abstract
The present paper describes the practical realization and characteristics of atomic frequency standards realized in Romania. Between 1974 and 1987 9 hydrogen masers were built. Starting with 1991 a new research program was developed regarding the study and the implementation in Romania of an atomic clock using Cs cold atoms.
