  • Abstract
    Vehicular ad hoc network (VANET) is needful and promising to connect the 3G network. If all vehicles communicate with the 3G network directly, it will be overwhelmed. We devote to solve the problem by mobile gateways in this paper. The channel randomness can affect the stability of the communication link, which ensures reliable dissemination of information in wireless network. We analyze the communication efficiency by modeling the correctly decoded probability of each vehicle as a pivotal variable in the one-dimensional VANET, and propose an efficient mechanism to select appropriate gateways based on multiple metrics of correctly decoded probability, network delay and relative velocity, for the VANET-3G network in fading channels. Simulations are carried out using MATLAB to evaluate the performance of the envisioned mechanism. Results show our scheme can ensure the efficiency and stability of the VANET-3G network.
