Abstract
A review is provided of recent theoretical, material and physical concept developments in guided wave behavior in complex media and their impact on device applications in the microwave and millimeter wave frequency regimes. The use of ferrite, semiconductor, chiral, magnetoplasma, superconductor and ferroelectric materials in microwave planar devices are examined. Planar structures include hybrid circuit configurations and monolithic integrated circuits
