Abstract
The looseness of the stator elements of an electric machine can be diagnosed using the method described in this paper. The method is based on a spectrum vibration analysis applied to measurements provided at several points of a machine frame under operating conditions. Examples of practical applications to large generators in Russia and the first tests on motors in the USA are presented.
