Abstract
China Mountain areas are subject to rapid change, socially, economically, and environmentally. Adapting mountain settlements to climate change have become the most formidable challenges of our times. Since mountain settlements nationwide go through a process of rapid change, the question is how to ensure sustainability in change; in other words, how to adapt to climate change for a promising future. The paper begins by outlining the background to the issues. It goes on to identify key issues and make recommendations.
