Title :
Cables for use with PWM, IGBT AC drives
Author :
Campbell, Thomas G.
Abstract :
Considerable discussion has taken place over the last several years regarding increased use of PWM drives using IGBT technology. This paper deals with the effects on other system components of three-phase power cables when used with this technology. It also discusses the effects of this technology on the cables themselves. Included are concerns on crosstalk, risk to bearings and high voltage reflected waves. Primary focus is on recent literature. Conclusions of applicable literature are included to support the use of cables having thermoset polymer insulation, three ground wires and continuous corrugated aluminum sheaths.
