Abstract :
With the rapid development of wireless communications, various wireless networks will coexist. UMTS and WLAN, a popular and representative interworking paradigm, provides a plethora of multimedia services to mobile users with multimode access capability. In this paper, we propose an effective call admission control (CAC) scheme which is based on bandwidth reservation scheme. In addition, we propose a movable-boundary scheme for voice and data traffic, in which bandwidth is divided into three sub-pool, so as to maintain satisfactory QoS to the end user. At last we propose a Markov analytical model to investigate the performance of an integrated voice/data UMTS and WLAN network.
