Abstract :
The levitation effect for high-speed vehicle ground transportation is considered. Use is made of the electromagnetic force known as traveling force or levitation force to keep the air gap between rail and vehicle constant. The authors focus on the importance of reducing the vehicular weight factor while maintaining the capability to generate the allowable driving force as well as levitation force. Accordingly, the material selection and sizing, etc. of linear motor become the focal point. The authors´ approach is to keep the flux density constant while doing calculations on all kinds of forces and to find the optimal value of slip
