Abstract
Deals with the problem of validating the compound-Gaussian model to observations. In particular, the authors show that sea surface radar clutter data recorded during the SAXON FPN experiment are amenable to a compound representation and estimate to what extent the modulating component (texture) can be approximated with a constant. Finally, they use this information to design the MMSE FIR filter which allows the extraction of texture from the data
