Navigation Design of Instruction Video in Network Curriculum

Abstract :
Video has become an important element in e-learning. Comparing with text and picture, video is more difficult and important in navigation design because learners know about its real meaning only through playing linearly. The authors consider that the navigation system of instructional video can be divided into two categories: outer navigation and inner navigation. Based on two kinds of Inner navigation of navigation of appearance marked (NOAM) and navigation of inner structure (NOIS), the thesis mainly discusses design of video navigation with examples. Some features of several subtypes and their applications are summarized in this paper through comparison research. In addition, the authors recommend some design thoughts of navigation, such as design of interactive inner navigation, showing advance organizer, showing learning task, knowledge summary and so on. At the end of the paper, the authors come to the conclusion that the navigation design should follow some principles such as people-centered, Simple and unified, Easy to operate and so on.
