Abstract
We present a data model and a rule-based formalism for managing digital media data-specifically, audio-video data and their associated annotations. The rule-based formalism is also equivalent to algebraic and visual formalisms. The simplicity and equivalence of these formalisms provides evidence that the concepts in this model may define a kernel of capabilities required for handling digital media
