Abstract :
Infrared sensors are limited in the durable times and are often damaged in the field experiments because of a variety of factors. This paper introduces a new infrared-sensor simulator which can replace the infrared sensor to output infrared image data in the early stage of research and development. The simulator acquires the simulating data from PC via USB2.0 and the simulating data is buffered with SDRAM before output to the infrared image processing platform. FPGA is used as the status machine control and interface to implement all tasks and functions. The simulating data stored in PC is sampled from the real field infrared image and provides a truthful, continuous and high-speed data source for the infrared signal processors which are one of the most key components in the infrared detecting and tracking system. Additionally, the simulator is portable and very suitable for the field experiment.
