Abstract :
Measurements for calibrated rain drops of various sizes, falling at nearly terminal velocity in a salt water tank have been performed in VV polarisation for a 30° incidence angle at 13.5 and 36 GHz simultaneously. The surface features have been recorded with a digital high speed imaging system synchroneously with the radar data acquisition system. A sampling rate of 1 kHz for both radar and imaging data has been used for most cases. Backscattering measurements along with first surface analysis data are presented
