Abstract :
The operational benefits derived from the use of MLS (microwave landing system) attributes are classified in five general categories: use of curved/segmented approaches, use of back azimuth guidance, use of higher glide slopes/reduced siting problems, relief of frequency congestion, and other benefits (e.g., reliability and maintainability). Each of these categories is discussed, with specific examples. The requirements necessary to achieve the benefits are described
