Abstract :
A simple nonlinear structure together with a LMS-type algorithm to update its parameters are considered and applied to nonlinear echo cancellation of data signals. The nonlinear filter is one with functionally separated memory and nonlinearity. This makes it suitable to compensate the unavoidable nonlinear transfer of the monolithic digital-analog converter (DAC) in the echo cancelling scheme and, in general, to handle nonlinearly distorted signals.
