Abstract
This paper introduces the integration of robust control and quality control. Experimental design using orthogonal arrays is shown to provide controllers with performance-robustness property which is exactly the design goal of μ synthesis. The observation reveals that the resulting controller satisfies the μ test and approaches the optimal μ controller, rendering the structured singular value less than unity and tending to flatten the μ curve over some bandwidth of interests. Systematical procedures for this quality-orientated control design are outlined in this paper
