Abstract
The MetOp Program is a cooperation between ESA and EUMETSAT organizations to contribute to the network of polar operational meteorological satellites by replacing, as from the year 2001, the morning platform currently supplied by the NOAA. The nominal payload consists of a suite of instruments which continue to serve the present imaging and sounding requirements of the meteorological community, complemented by instruments which will also contribute significantly to the Earth climate monitoring as well as to other non-meteorological applications
