Abstract
A description is given of the progress of a research program that is addressing the application of knowledge-based techniques to resource planning and replanning for naval command and control. The domain of resource planning in this context is defined together with some specific examples. The reasons for a knowledge-based approach are outlined and the results of the three-year research program are reported. Finally, future research is described, together with a discussion of some of the problems that will arise in the development of knowledge-based decision-support systems for operational use
