Abstract
Estimation techniques, using passive microwave observations for rainfall retrieval, are illustrated within a common theoretical framework. Comparisons of the various retrieval approaches are carried out on a simulated database, generated from a microphysical cloud model and a plane-parallel radiative transfer algorithm
