Abstract
The properties of kernel-driven models of the BRDF are presented. The models are discussed in the context of BRDF modelling and inversion, coupling to atmospheric models, and the calculation of albedo. The discussion is aimed primarily at investigating the utility of such models in the derivation of global BRDF and albedo products from MODIS and MISR instruments on the EOS platforms
