Abstract :
Four years ago Vodafone initiated a project to enable WiFi hotspot access for their customers. The requirement was to roam on to third party networks rather than building our own hotspots. Customers should be able to gain access either using a web browser and SMS authentication, or a dedicated client and SIM authentication. Settlement within the group was based on RADIUS to TAP mediation, using existing settlement processes. At peak, 25 operating companies launched the product, of which eight were linked for roaming and TAP settlement.
