Abstract
This paper demonstrates a three-stage hybrid-distributed amplifier based on Darlington configuration to achieve high gain and over several octaves of bandwidth for microwave and millimeter-wave frequency applications. The Darlington single-stage distributed amplifier (DSSDA) is used as traveling wave gain stages to improve the gain performance of the conventional distributed amplifier. This configuration achieves 14plusmn1 dB small signal flat gain from 1 to 40 GHz and output power at 1-dB gain compression is 19plusmn1 dBm over the desired band.
