Abstract :
Two-pump fiber optical parametric amplifiers (2-P FOPAs) are optimized in terms of pump wavelength separation to obtain simultaneously broadband flat gain and low pump-to-signal noise transfer. The analysis is performed based on the six-wave model to maximize the gain and minimize the pump-to-signal noise transfer. It is shown that for given fiber parameters and fixed signal and pumps powers, the optimized operation occurs when wavelengths of the two pumps are properly adjusted.
