Abstract :
Ultra Wideband (UWB) Imaging methods are considered to be appropriate alternatives to the conventional X-ray mammography which has several shortcomings and must be replaced with a less harmful and more efficient method. In this paper, a novel method based on template matching, is presented for localizing the tumor in homogenous breast. First, we propose informative features using UWB voltage waves by analyzing the received signal in frequency domain for different tumor locations using a tuned receiver array. Then we extract a set of features and prove their suitability through rigorous simulations. The tumor location is detected by applying a template matching. We demonstrate that the proposed method is successful in detecting the location of a 4 mm-tumor with 1 mm resolution.
