Abstract :
Concentration quenching of Er3+ fluorescence has been quantitatively investigated in bismuth borate glasses with a serial of Er3+ concentrations. The analysis of the total decay rate of the 4I13/2 state of Er3+ has been used to determine the dominant cause of quenching. On the basis of the electric dipole-dipole interaction mechanism, the quenching parameters were determined and compared with other Er3+-doped glasses.
