  • Abstract
We successfully measured a far-end 160-Gb/s waveform after transmission over a 508-km distance using a new advanced envelope-detection circuit for an Optical Sampling Oscilloscope (OSO). Although the transmitted 160-Gb/s multiplexed signal contained wander, the eye diagram of each channel was clearly observed. This paper describes the principle of the new method and demonstrates the results of far-end waveform measurement in a field trial using the JAPAN GIGABIT NETWORK 2 (JGN2).
