  • Abstract
This paper presents a new intelligence method, based on an inverse scattering technique and a New Adaptive Shuffled Frog Leaping Algorithm (NASFLA), to detect the radius, permittivity and location of a buried 2-D circular cylinder under a slightly rough surface. In the proposed approach, the suggested improved NASFL algorithm minimizes the difference between the measured information of an unknown buried cylinder and the obtained simulation results through the iterations of a forward problem. In order to speed up the computations, an analytical method is proposed as the forward solution. This analytical method utilizes the small perturbation method (SPM) for the scattering from the slightly rough surface and considers all multiple interactions between the rough surface and the buried cylinder. On the other hand, the synthetic measured data is obtained by using the method of Moments (MoM). Furthermore, in this paper, a new adaptive frog leaping rule is proposed to enhance the local exploration, performance and quicker algorithm convergence. To show the effectiveness and accuracy of the proposed method, the inverse scattering from a dielectric circular cylinder buried under a slightly rough surface, with sinusoidal profile, is simulated for a TM polarized incident wave. The obtained results show the capability of the suggested approach to determine the parameters of the buried object.
