Abstract :
The SovCan STAR satellite communications system will provide a variety of services by establishing of domestic and international communications networks. These networks will provide fixed multipurpose communications services. The SovCan STAR networks will be compatible with existing networks and can be used by subscribers equipped with the small ground stations. The SovCan STAR satellite communications system consists of five satellites operating in a geosynchronous orbit. These satellites will be located in the orbital slots between 14° West and 145° East. The SovCan STAR payload consists of 24 Ku-band (14/11 GHz) transponders each with a useable bandwidth of 54 MHz connected to four steerable antennas with a combined transmit and receive capability. Each antenna can receive or transmit up to 8 channels
