Abstract
It is quite common in passive sonar to apply a plane wavefront propagation model. With respect to the spectral cross correslation matrix (SCCM), a normalized point source vector will depend only on bearing. On the other side a layered channel such as the ocean and its boundaries gives rise to several (M) modes. This results in a source vector with M+1 parameters. A method is developed to handle this model.
