Abstract
The paper is concerned with an active suspension system for vehicles using a LQG control. The model created here is described by a linear system with four degrees of freedom, subject to random excitation from road surface. The control is determined from the view-point of ride comfort, minimizing a given perform index. The simulation results indicate that the proposed active suspension system performs effectively when compared with passive system in vehicle body acceleration, suspension travel and tire deflection, and proves to be effective in the vibration isolation of the suspension system.
