For satellite videoconferencing systems the problems of reducing the transmission speed to the values corresponding the CCIR Recommendations H.120 and H.130 on the basis of pyramid coding and vector quantization (VQ) coding methods and their combination with other effective TV signals coding methods are presented. Some methods of nonorthogonal (Laplacian pyramid) and orthogonal pyramid coding are investigated
