Abstract :
In this paper the simulation results of the uplink performance of WCDMA system is presented and analyzed. The channel estimation is carried out using pilot symbols of control channel that is transmitted simultaneously to the data channel. A method called weighted multi-slot averaging is employed for channel estimation. The simulation results show that the number of slots involved and weighting factors should be selected according to the variation speed of the fading channel. The effects of forward error correction (FEC), the number of RAKE fingers, and the strength difference between channel paths on the uplink performance are also studied
