Abstract
Linear-phase FIR digital filter responses used in resizing of images are investigated and evaluated both objectively and subjectively. Blur, jaggy and ringing are the main artifacts which deteriorate image quality. A new type of filter response which incorporates characteristics of human visual systems and statistical property of images are found to show good visual quality even with lower filter order, which was supported by objective and subjective evaluation of images
