Automotive service engineering is a new undergraduate major authorized by China Education Ministry in 2002, and there are some difficulties in the college major construction and the teaching project. To aim at the problems, the history of automotive service engineering is presented in China at first, and then the development, the content and the characteristics of automotive service engineering are analyzed, finally the college major construction of automotive service engineering is explored on the basis of the technical undergraduate education. It carried on the practice in automobile engineering department of Shanghai Dian Ji University, thus strengthened the connotation construction of automotive service engineering.
