Abstract :
This paper presents an adaptive protocol model which supports the dynamic management of traffic through real-time scheduling algorithms and QoS re-negotiation. The model, known as QoS-based adaptive architecture through packet scheduling (Q-ADAPTS), is based on the integration of existing OSI-based standards and real-time scheduling algorithms to support both top-down and bottom-up traffic management for multimedia and C3 networks. The model addresses many of the limitations regarding QoS management which exist in the current OSI standards
