Abstract :
A new scheme is demonstrated for reducing Rayleigh-beat-noise in carrier-distributed-DWDM-PONs, based on detuned-wavelength filtering and phase-modulation-induced-spectral-broadening. The required optical-signal-to-Rayleigh-noise-ratio (OSRNR) can be reduced by up to 16dB whilst retaining negligible transmission penalty over 20km.
