Abstract
A virtual topology, hereafter referred to as multiple-ring ShuffleNet (MRSN), is proposed and investigated for multi-hop wavelength-division multiple-access (WDMA) optical communications. In the proposed topology, via providing a ring connectivity for the nodes arranged in every column of a ShuffleNet (SN), a multiple-ring SN is realized. It is shown that the MRSN achieves a hop distribution superior to its SN counterpart
