  • Abstract
This paper investigates a multi-divisional approach to combine space division, TDM and WDM for optical interconnection in lightwave networking. As the most important step to achieve wavelength reuse in WDM, wavelength interchange is illustrated with respect to time-slot interchange in TDM. By space, time and wavelength expansions, multi-divisional architectures are developed, and their blocking characteristics are evaluated through spacetime/wavelength transformation. Also, the practical implementation of these multi-divisional architectures is addressed from the perspective of real electronic and optical devices
