Abstract :
Bandwidth efficient techniques are required to satisfy the demands on the digital mobile communication networks, demands such as high bit rate services and increasing number of mobile subscribers. On the fixed line digital communications network, the precoding algorithm has allowed data rates to approach the Shannon limit over the public switched telephone network. Here precoding is applied to a digital mobile channel that is dynamic in its characteristics and symbol error rate (SER) curves are shown for various mobile channel situations (power profiles, vehicular speeds). Precoding is shown as a technique that reduces errors at low Doppler speeds while not affecting coding or interleaving algorithms that reduce errors at high Doppler speeds.
