Abstract :
In order to study variable-frequency AC power system based on the hybrid excitation synchronous machine (HESM), this paper presents a modeling technique for a hybrid excitation synchronous starter/ generator system. The developed model of the system runs in MATLAB/SIMULINK environment and accounts, in a detailed manner, for the dynamics of the machine in the starting and the generating mode. Simulation results show that the proposed system can switch from starting mode to generating mode smoothly, and insure stable performance after turning into the generating mode.
