Abstract
Based on Jiles-Atherton theory on ferromagnetic hysteresis, an improved single-phase transformer model is presented to analyse the performance of the transformer under DC bias. Programmed using MATLAB, the magnetization characteristics and excitation current are simulated. Then using ANSYS, two-dimension magnetic field of the transformer is calculated. The calculation results show that the flux density of the core and the leakage flux would increase under DC bias. This is the reason why transformers have more serious heat under DC biasing condition.
